Kiambu Aquatics has officially launched the 2026 swimming season in style, recording an impressive turnout during its National Technical Officiating Clinic held on January 10, 2026, at Zetech University. The clinic marks a key milestone in the association’s drive to professionalize swimming in Kenya and set higher standards for competitive officiating.

High Attendance Shows Growing Interest in Professional Officiating

The clinic attracted over 80 swimming officials, including participants from as far as Mombasa and Kisumu, signaling the growing interest in professional poolside officiating nationwide.

Nahason Otieno, Technical Director of Kiambu Aquatics, praised the dedication shown by officials:

“This didn’t happen by chance. We have raised our standards in how we run our clinics, and people can feel the difference. That’s why they keep coming.”

Otieno emphasized that Kiambu Aquatics is serious about quality and professionalism:

“We will not assign any official to our galas unless they have attended this clinic. Swimming rules keep changing, and our officials must stay sharp. The sport is moving forward, and we have to move with it.”

A Fresh, Professional Look for Officials

As part of the clinic, Kiambu Aquatics introduced new branded T-shirts for its officials, replacing the old reflector vests.

“Reflectors are outdated. Many top associations have already moved away from them. Our branded shirts give us a cleaner, more professional image.”

Otieno also highlighted the opportunity for partners and sponsors:

“Our T-shirts and merchandise give brands great visibility. Kiambu Aquatics is a respected name, and partnering with us offers real marketing value.”

Looking Ahead: Invitational Swimming Championship 2026

With the officiating clinic successfully completed, attention now turns to Kiambu Aquatics’ first major event of the year — the Invitational Swimming Championship, scheduled for January 24–25, 2026.

The championship has already drawn top teams from across Kenya and will serve as a qualifier for the Kenya Aquatics National Long Course Championships, happening February 13–15 at the Kasarani Aquatic Arena.

Kenya Aquatics Leaders Praise Kiambu Aquatics

Hillary Leboy, 2nd Vice President of Kenya Aquatics and Governor of Uasin Gishu Aquatics, commended Kiambu Aquatics for its vision and leadership:

“Kiambu Aquatics is a strong and trusted brand. As Uasin Gishu Aquatics, we are ready to work with them and push swimming to a higher level.”

Leboy also stressed Kenya’s potential to produce Olympic-level swimmers:

“We have good facilities, committed coaches, dedicated parents, hard-working athletes, and a supportive federation. There is no reason why we shouldn’t qualify swimmers for the Olympics through A and B times. The talent is here — we just need to enhance our coaching, keep competing, and keep growing.”

The successful officiating clinic has set the tone for an exciting 2026 season, one driven by:

With top-tier training, modernized administration, and a growing pool of talent, Kiambu Aquatics is ready to lead Kenya’s swimming renaissance in 2026.
