KIAMBU, Kenya — The Kiambu Aquatics Level Two Swimming Championship is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling clashes of the season, with a record turnout already confirmed. The showdown will take place on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October 2025 at the prestigious Potterhouse School, and anticipation is running high.

Record Participation

According to Competition Secretary Shadrack Mutiso, about 35 teams from across Kenya have confirmed their entries. This strong turnout highlights the growing appetite for competitive swimming in the country and reflects the rising prestige of the championship.

“This season we are going fully automated with the Colorado System 7 Timing Device,” Mutiso explained, urging teams to submit entries before the October 2nd deadline. “With such a large entry list and several Zone 3 championship swimmers competing, we expect a fast and highly competitive meet.”

Road to Zone 3 Championship

This event serves as a proving ground for swimmers preparing for the 10th Africa Aquatics Zone 3 Championship, scheduled for October 16–19, 2025. For these athletes, Level Two is more than just another meet — it’s a critical test against tough opposition before representing Kenya on the continental stage.

Star swimmers expected to feature include Chris Mugo (Supermarlins Swimming Club), Jeff Muturi (Genesis Sports), and Leon Mwiti (Orca) — all selected for Team Kenya at the Zone 3 Championship. Their presence not only elevates the standard of competition but also inspires the younger generation of swimmers.

Clubs to Watch

The list of participating clubs reads like a who’s who of Kenyan swimming. From established giants to emerging forces, the pool deck will be alive with rivalry and color. Expected clubs include Braeburn, Torpedo, Orca, Mombasa Aquatics, Dashing Dolphins, Genesis, Woodcreek, Potterhouse, Crawford, Makini, ProSwim, AquaSharks, Snook, Umoja Sharks, Seahorses, Nova Pioneer, Premier, Juja St. Peter’s, Juja Prep & Senior School, BeAPro, and many others.

This diversity guarantees a high-octane weekend where tradition, style, and ambition collide.

Raising the Stakes

Excitement for the championship is being fueled by new incentives shaping the swimming season.

  • Automated Timing: The use of the Colorado System 7 Timing Device guarantees precision and fairness.
  • Cash Prizes: Genesis Sports Limited has already committed KSh 100,000 toward prize money, with organizers aiming to raise the pool to KSh 1 million before the season ends.
  • Awards Gala: Plans are underway for a glamorous gala to honor swimmers, coaches, and supporters who power the sport forward.
  • International Exchange: In collaboration with U.S. partners, 10 local coaches are set to travel to the United States next summer for a one-month exchange program, fully funded, to train with elite American swim clubs.

Impact on the League

The Level Two Championship is also expected to shake up the official Kiambu Aquatics League table. With every medal carrying weight in the rankings, the weekend could redefine the pecking order in Kenya’s only structured county-level swimming league.

Anticipation Builds

For swimmers, it’s about testing themselves against the best. For coaches, it’s about measuring progress and pushing limits. For fans, it’s about unforgettable races and witnessing the birth of new stars.

When the whistle blows at Potterhouse, one thing is certain: the waters will erupt with speed, passion, and dreams.
