Kiambu Aquatics welcomes global swimwear brand Arena to Kenya as the association prepares to host the 2026 Minnows Swimming Championship on Saturday, 31st October, at Potterhouse School in Runda.
Arena Marketing Executive Matteo Giovannangeli is visiting Kenya to grace the upcoming championship and engage local swimming clubs on potential partnerships aimed at improving access to quality swimwear and swimming accessories.
His visit marks an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration between international swimming brands and Kenya’s growing aquatic community, particularly in supporting young swimmers and grassroots swimming development.
Kiambu Aquatics Welcomes Arena to Kenya
Speaking in Nairobi, Dr Douglas Okatso, Honorary Secretary of Kiambu Aquatics, welcomed Giovannangeli and the Arena team, expressing the association’s appreciation for their support of swimming development in Kenya.
“We are delighted to welcome Matteo Giovannangeli and the Arena team to Kenya. Kiambu Aquatics is privileged to host them, and we appreciate Arena’s continued support towards the development of swimming through our league,” said Okatso.
Arena is a globally recognized swimwear brand and one of the sponsors of the ongoing Kiambu Aquatics Swimming League 2026–2027, which has attracted young swimmers and swimming clubs from across the country.
The partnership reflects the importance of collaboration between swimming associations, equipment providers, coaches, and clubs in creating opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills and pursue competitive swimming.
Supporting Grassroots Swimming Development
The 2026 Kiambu Aquatics Minnows Swimming Championship will bring together young swimmers aged five to eleven years, providing them with an opportunity to compete, gain valuable race experience, and demonstrate their progress.
Grassroots competitions play an essential role in developing swimming talent. They introduce young athletes to organized competition, help coaches assess their performance, and encourage discipline, confidence, and sportsmanship.
Dr Okatso also acknowledged the swimming clubs that have submitted entries for the championship.
“We appreciate the many teams from across the country that have submitted their entries. We look forward to giving our best to these young athletes, who are our future champions,” he added.
The strong participation expected at the event highlights the growing interest in junior swimming competitions and the importance of providing young athletes with structured opportunities to develop.
Arena Explores Opportunities with Kenyan Swimming Clubs
During his visit, Arena Marketing Executive Matteo Giovannangeli is expected to engage local swimming clubs on potential partnerships that could make quality swimwear and accessories more accessible and affordable.
Access to appropriate swimming equipment is an important consideration for swimmers, parents, and clubs. Quality swimwear, goggles, and other essential accessories can support training and competition while helping athletes prepare for the demands of the sport.
Engagement between Arena and local swimming stakeholders could create opportunities to strengthen relationships, understand the needs of Kenyan swimmers, and explore ways to support the country’s developing aquatic community.
The visit also underscores the potential for international brands to contribute to grassroots sports development through partnerships, sponsorships, and engagement with local associations.
