On May 5th, 2025, the Kiambu County Aquatics Association (KCAA) held a strategic consultative meeting with the leadership of Wadi Degla Sports Club at their esteemed Runda facility. The gathering marked an important step in KCAA’s broader mission to strengthen the future of aquatic sports in Kiambu County and beyond.

Leadership-Driven Engagement

The KCAA delegation was led by Mr. Douglas Okatso, the Honorary Secretary, and joined by Ex-Corporal Nesmas Mbati, the Public Relations Officer, and Coach Jacqueline Macharia, MPH, Assistant Honorary Secretary. Their presence underscored KCAA’s proactive approach to engaging with established institutions for the betterment of swimmers and coaches across the region.

Representing Wadi Degla were Mr. Abraham Mburu, Sports Manager, and Coach Steve, Aquatic Technical Manager. Their openness to dialogue and collaborative spirit provided a welcoming space for both sides to exchange ideas and explore shared interests.

Exploring Potential Collaboration

While no formal agreement was made, the discussion centered around several key areas of mutual interest, including:

  • Capacity building for technical staff and coaches
  • Youth development and mentorship opportunities
  • Hosting and supporting future aquatic events

Both parties shared a common interest in fostering swimming talent and expanding access to quality training in Kenya.
