The Kiambu Aquatics Sprints & Relays Swimming Championship, held on March 22nd and 23rd, 2025, at Regis Runda Academy, was a remarkable display of dedication, athleticism, and the rising prominence of swimming in Kenya. The event brought together an impressive pool of talented athletes, with 444 swimmers making a total of 2,221 entries across various races, all vying for glory.
Genesis Sports Limited Claims Victory
When the final whistle blew, Genesis Sports Limited emerged as the overall champions, securing an impressive 64 medals—32 gold, 22 silver, and 10 bronze. Their dominance was particularly evident in the male category, where they clinched 48 medals, solidifying their position as a powerhouse in the swimming scene.
Orca Swim Club delivered a commendable performance, securing second place overall with 68 medals (28 gold, 25 silver, and 15 bronze). Aqua Shark Fin followed closely, claiming third place with 52 medals, including 19 gold, 12 silver, and 21 bronze. These achievements showcased the incredible depth of young swimming talent in the country.
Outstanding Performances in the Female Category
The girls’ division witnessed an intense battle for supremacy, with Potterhouse School Runda leading the way with 28 medals. Aqua Shark Fin was a close second with 27 medals, while Genesis Sports Limited added another 15 medals to their tally. The level of competition in this category highlighted the promising future of female swimmers in Kenya.
A Stepping Stone to Nationals
Beyond the medals and rankings, this championship served as a crucial platform for swimmers to qualify for the upcoming Kenya Aquatics Junior National Swimming Championship, scheduled for May 3rd–4th, 2025, in Kisumu. The energy and enthusiasm displayed throughout the event reflected the growing interest in competitive swimming and the potential of young athletes to make a mark on the national stage.
